Our winter CSA is now full.
Thank you for your interest, we’ll have to plan on a larger program for next season!
Would you like to join our winter CSA?
October is approaching and the farmers’ market will be wrapping up shortly. As a serious vegetable lover I bet you are feeling a bit bummed about the prospect of a long cold winter with a kitchen full of sub-par grocery store produce (yuck!).
What if I told you that we are offering a winter CSA program so you can continue eating our local, organic, and delicious vegetables? Did you know that winter vegetables are actually more flavorful then summer ones? The cold weather turns starches into sugar and next summer you may find yourself wishing away the sunshine so you can get back to the candy carrots of winter.
The winter CSA program will run for 10 weeks, starting Thursday October 12th and ending on Saturday December 16th. Pickup schedule will include 5 outdoor pickup’s, and 5 indoor ones and will be as follows:
Thursday’s: October 12, 19, 26, and November 2, 9
- Goderich: 5:00-5:45 at our usual farmers market spot on the square across from Cait’s café
- On farm (37273 Bayfield river road, Clinton): starting from 4:00 Thursdays, or any time Friday or Saturday, self serve from the walk-in cooler
Saturday’s: November 18, 25, and December 2, 9, 16
- Goderich: 9:00-1:00 at the Maker’s market in the Huron County Museum
- On farm (37273 Bayfield river road, Clinton): starting from 4:00 Friday or all day Saturday, self serve from the walk-in cooler
*You can switch your pick up from Goderich to on farm or vice versa at any time as long as you provide notice via email ahead of time.
The cost for the 10 week program will be $240.00 with each box including approximately $25.00 worth of winter vegetables. We are only offering one box size at this point but if your family eats a lot of vegetables you may want to consider ordering 2 shares.
What’s in the box?
The box will only include vegetables that we are able to grow in the winter, like spinach, lettuce, and kale, and ones that we grew in the fall and have harvested and stored, including squash, potatoes, carrots, beets, onions, and turnips. We don’t resell vegetables.
Here are a few samples boxes:
($4) Sweet mesclun
($3) Swiss chard
($3) Red radish
($3) Sweet onions
($4) Spicy mesclun
($3) Curly kale
($2) Watermelon radish
|($4) Baby kale
($4) Signature mix
($4) Bok choy
($4) Butternut squash
($3) Cooking onions
Don’t like something in your share? You can swap it out for something of equal value.
Vacations and Missed Shares
The nice thing about winter veggies is that they store well. Get a friend to pick up for you where possible, otherwise pick up a double share upon your return.
